2015 June 05. - Seminar for community representatives and stakeholders within project HUSKROUA/1101/262 “HYDROFOR: Systems of optimal forest management for enhancing the hydrological role of forests in preventing the floods in Bodrog river catchment”

Project beneficiary NGO FORZA, Agency for sustainable development of the Carpathian region (Ukraine)
together with partner Ukrainian Research Institute for Mountain Forestry named after P.S. Pasternak (Ukraine)
are going to organize the Seminar for community representatives and stakeholders in the frame of project titled
“HYDROFOR: Systems of optimal forest management for enhancing the hydrological role of forests in preventing the floods
in Bodrog river catchment” financed from the ENPI CBC Programme Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2007-2013.

Venue: Conference-hall, “Uzhanska Dolyna”, Mayakovskogo str., 3, Perechyn, Zakarpattia, Ukraine

The seminar conducted in the framework of the World Environment Day is aimed at informing the representatives of
 the communities and stakeholders of the target area about the project results and proposed measures to improve the
 forest management practices in order to prevent the floods; mediating and supporting the dialog and information
 exchange of communities with the foresters of local forest management units.

The agenda of the seminar will include the following presentations and discussion topics:
•    HYDROFOR project goals, activities and up to date results
•    Enhancement of hydrological role of forests
•    Map of flood risks and forest cover change in Bodrog river catchment
•    Impact of forest transportation network on hydrological function of forest territories. Examples of simple
     and low-cost practical activities for retention of water in the forest
•    Best practices in building of small hydro-technical constructions. Examples of Nyzhniy Bystryi village
    of Khust rayon and Bohdan village of Rakhiv rayon
•    Recommendations on the forest management in context of hydrological function of forests.
•    Practical exercise for community representatives and foresters
•    Visit to the HYDROFOR demonstration plot at the territory of SE “Perechyn forest management”
