FIELD TRAINING WORKSHOP for foresters and nature protection specialists from nature reserves and national parks of Carpathian region of Ukraine within project HUSKROUA/1101/262 “HYDROFOR: Systems of optimal forest management for enhancing the hydrological role of forests in preventing the floods in Bodrog river catchment”. Project beneficiary NGO FORZA, Agency for sustainable development of the Carpathian region (Ukraine) is organizing a FIELD TRAINING WORKSHOP for foresters and nature protection specialists from nature reserves and national parks of Carpathian region of Ukraine within project “HYDROFOR: Systems of optimal forest management for enhancing the hydrological role of forests in preventing the floods in Bodrog river catchment” financed from the ENPI CBC Programme Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2007-2013. Date: October 8-9, 2015, start October 8, at 10:00, finish October 9, at 15:00, FIELD TRAINING WORKSHOP for foresters and nature protection specialists from nature reserves and national parks of Carpathian region of Ukraine Venue: National Nature Park “Zacharovanyi Krai”, “Zacharovana dolyna” tourist base, Osiy village, Irshava district, Ukraine The field training workshop is aimed at informing nature protection specialists working in national parks and natural reserves of the Carpathian region of Ukraine about HYDROFOR project results and presenting current approaches to sustainable forest management for enhancing the hydrological role of forests and multifunctional use of forest resources; appropriate and widely used in Europe systems and ways of improvement of operation of natural parks and natural reserves, including close-to-nature silviculture and demonstration of practical application of mentioned systems and ways and practical exercises in the forest stands of national parks. The agenda of the seminar will include the following presentations and discussion topics: • HYDROFOR project: importance of sustainable forest management for enhancing the hydrological role of forests • Close-to-nature silviculture: appropriate and widely used in Europe’s forestry, nature parks and nature reserves • Excursion to the training plot Zacharovany kraj 1: Silvicultural management of even aged beech forest in the age of approximately 60 years • Excursion to the training plot Zacharovany kraj 2: Silvicultural management of a beech stand almost in the age for “final cut” - approximately 90 years • Group work consisting of assessment of the stand, marking, group presentations, discussion of the results Participation in the event is by invitation only For further information, please contact: Lesya Loyko NGO FORZA www.forza.org.ua

The Beneficiary “Tourist Association of Ivano-Frankivks Region” is going to organize the project Steering Committee meeting in Ukraine in the frame of the project titled “CARPATHIAN HERITAGE RAILWAYS” (HUSKROUA/1101/176) financed from the ENPI CBC Programme Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2007-2013. Exact date and venue: October 08-09, 2015, recreation complex “Karpaty”, 30 Petrasha St., Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Ukraine DATE: October 08-09, 2015 PROJECT EVENT: Project Steering Committee meeting in Ukraine Who is invited: Participants of the Steering Committee: partner organization representatives - Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, Dolyna District State Administration, Vygoda Village Council, Tourist Association of Ivano-Frankivsk Region, NFA ROMSILVA – Administration of Maramures Mountains Nature Park; representatives of Carpathian National Nature Park. Topics to discuss at the event: 1. Project progress report in Ukraine (Beneficiary). 2. Project progress report in Romania (Partner 2). 3. Strategic planning of tourism development around the narrow gauge railways in the target regions – partnership between railways in Viseu de Sus and Carpathian Tram. 4. Partners’ Forum – organization issues. 5. Working on the draft strategy. Future development projects and partnerships discussion. 6. Summary.
